Hiroki Tomita has designed spaces for shops and homes, developed concepts for venues, and created furniture and utensils using digital fabrication machinery. In 2024, he launched his own design business, “FOLT,” and is eager to collaborate with organizations and individuals from various fields. For example, he worked on the design of the hypothetical space system “kiosk” in collaboration with IAMAS, as well as the outdoor fixture “Media Lab” at the cultural facility “Minna no Mori Gifu Media Cosmos.”
In the first part of the interview, we will explore his active role in the architectural design office “Tab” after graduating from IAMAS, his collaborative research projects with IAMAS, and reflect on his work with Professor Kyo Akabane, with whom he also collaborates as part of the design collective “LAP.”
